Article Abstract:
The article discusses Moody's findings that finances at not-for-profit hospitals are not likely to improve over the next few years. For the short term, conditions may become even worse, as hospitals are dealing with new challenges, including a shortage of nurses and increasing pharmaceutical expenses, not to mention payment-cutting by Medicare and private insurers, and difficulties in getting hospital mergers to work well.
