The US President George W. Bush and Democratic presidential candidate Sen. John Kerry of Massachusetts urged the need to modernize the 39-year old federal student-loan programs. Bush and Republicans in the House of Representatives asked graduates to pay higher interest in order to generate more money for students to borrow.

Dollars twists and turns have effects on earnings
