Microsoft faces $613 million fine in Europe

The European Union has imposed Microsoft Corporation with $613 million fine in March 2004 for abusively wielding its Windows software monopoly and ordered sanctions that go well beyond the US anti-trust settlement. Microsoft called the EU's decision unwarranted and ill-considered and reported that it would ask a judge to suspend the order pending appeal.
