Officials mixed on bill to aid AMP
Article Abstract:
A legislation designed to stop Morris Township, NJ-based AlliedSignal Inc. from acquiring AMP Inc. of Harrisburg, PA, gets mixed reactions from legislators. Although the House Republican floor leader does not plan to sign the bill, Gov. Ridge and a top lawyer support the legislation. AlliedSignal has launched a proxy fight to place enough representatives to AMP's board in response to a poison pill takeover defense. Meanwhile, AMP has been urging state representatives to pass a bill that would block the proxy-fight process, called a consent solicitation.
