Peco-British Energy venture seeks a 3d nuclear plant

Philadelphia, PA-based Peco Energy Co. announced that AmerGen Energy Co., its joint venture with British Energy PLC, was in negotiations to acquire a third nuclear power plant, a plant located in Clinton, IL. This action is part of a plan to start up a company that would operate reactors across the U.S. Earlier, the joint venture had expressed interest in Nine Mile Point, a plant in upstate New York, and Vermont's Vermont Yankee plant. Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.

Local paper firm is moving into former Scott warehouse
Article Abstract:
Pennsylvania-based York Paper Co. has signed a lease for a 160,000 square foot warehouse from the Industrial Park Development Co.(New York) in Eddystone, PA. The renovated warehouse is larger and gives York direct access to rail deliveries and those from the nearby Delaware River. The former occupant of the warehouse was another paper company, Scott Paper Co. York will hire 20 additional employees to their staff.

Packaging plant to shut, lay off 165

International Paper Co. plans to close its beverage-packaging plant in northeast Philadelphia due to decreased demand for paperboard packaging and increased competition from plastic. The company will lay off its 165 workers there.
