The Greater Philadelphia Tourism Marketing Corp. would launch an ad campaign in June 2004 aimed at gay and lesbian travelers, as part of a broader bid also aimed at Hispanics and African Americans. The gay and lesbian TV ads would appear first on several channels on the Comcast cable system in the Philadelphia region.

Traffic.com to receive $45 million in funding

Wayne, Penn.-based Traffic.com has obtained $45 million in venture capital financing from New York, NY-based Baker Capital and five other investment firms. Traffic.com, which uses electronic sensors to monitor road traffic, currently offers its service in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

A business group, which includes Wayne, Penn.-based TL Ventures, is backing a $2 million ad campaign to promote the Philadelphia area as a high-tech haven. The marketing campaign also is supported by the Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce and the University of Pennsylvania.
