The cable-TV industry introduced a Web site that blows technology meant to shield subscribers from programs they consider offensive. The cable providers have provided channel-blocking technology in the form of cable boxes or filtration devices free to subscribers who do not already have it.

Fast-Internet orders boost Comcast

Comcast Corp. posted third quarter profits of $220 million, or 10 cents a share, on revenue of $5.1 billion. Its officials stated that the company received 549,000 subscriptions in the third quarter alone as it focused on an explosion of orders for its fast-Internet product.
