Schering-Plough set to make payments of $345.5 million

Schering-Plough Corporation agreed to pay $345.5 million and plead guilty to a federal criminal charge that it overcharged Medicaid for the popular Claritin allergy medicine. Schering Sales Corp., a subsidiary of Schering-Plough, of Kenilworth, N.J., agreed to settle the case and plead guilty to paying Cigna Corp., a Philadelphia-based health insurer, rebates in exchange for keeping Claritin on its approved drug list.
