Article Abstract:
Louisiana is one of the most expensive states for auto insurance, having an average annual premium of $2,740 despite rate reductions in 2005 (6.1%) and 2006 (3.4%), and despite laws aimed at lowering the number of uninsured motorists. Factors that contribute to high insurance rates are: high frequency of claims than in other states, the rainy weather in four major cities in the state, people's driving habits and the roads themselves.
