Specialty retailer to shutter Ross store
Article Abstract:
HomePlace Store plans to shut down 10 stores in seven states, including the 53,000-sq-ft store at North Hills Village Mall in Ross, OH. The stores will be shuttered because of their below-par performance compared with other stores owned by the company. The company's portfolio has been undergoing a restructuring since January 1998, when th Cleveland, OH-based home and kitchen discount retailer was pressured into filing for bankruptcy protection due to too much dependence on debt to pay for accelerated growth. The latest closings follow the first wave of closings that occurred in May 1998.
