Article Abstract:
The implications of Washington's policy on primaries are discussed. It is expected that the challenge to the state's 'top two' primary, which involves the runoff between two leading vote-getters, could affect Louisiana's open primary, which is similar. Justices also believe that these systems could damage political parties, since they are not given control over the nomination of their candidates for the general election.
