They're on a First Name Basis
Article Abstract:
Michaels Stores has hired the Richards Group to handle its branding strategy in an assignment that will not yet include creative or media work on the advertising account. Richards principal Dick Murray notes that the 514-store arts and crafts chain enjoys good sales, but lacks a key central image. It has traditionally used newspaper circulars to promote items in its stores and has no competition at the national level, competing primarily against regional chains such as Garden Ridge in Texas and Hobby Lobby in the Midwest. Michaels is the seventh new piece of business Richards has won since Jan 1999; others include Travelocity, Excel Communications, Comdisco, ClubCorp, Flashnet Communications and Supervalu Supermarkets.
