Wawa Food Market, a family owned convenience-store chain is appointing a chief executive officer, Howard Stoeckel who is not a member of the founding Wood family. He would replace Richard D. Wood and would take over the top job on 1 January 2004.

Information regarding the falling stock prices and financial problems of Safeway Inc is discussed. Since 2000 the stock prices have gradually fallen to $21.53, while profits fell to a loss of $828 million in 2002.
