The Wyeth Pharmaceuticals's R & D pipeline has become well known for its huge legal liabilities from its diet drugs, Pondimin and Redux. Wyeth has reserved $16.6 billion for litigation related to the diet-drug combination known as fen-hen and it intends to file more applications for new drugs in the coming years.

Third-quarter profit fell 12%, Campbell says

Camden, NJ-based Campbell Soup Co. has reported a 12 percent fall in its third-quarter profits. The soup maker, which reported $122 million in earnings for the quarter, said its revenues were hurt by rising marketing expenses.

Wyeth-Ayerst Laboratories had profits reach $1.57 billion in 4th qtr 2002 when compared with profits of $822.7 million for 4th qtr 2001. There were 400 layoffs in Philadelphia, PA, and 3,150 throughout the organization.
