Metabolite profling for plant functional genomics

Article Abstract:

This article is about the importance of metabolite as a tool in the analysis of the functional genomics of plants. Researchers using mass spectrometry/gas chromatography were able to quantify from Arabidopsis thaliana leaf extracts, 326 compounds and assign chemical structure to the genotypes. The research was conducted at the Max Planck Institute of Molecular Plant Physiology in Germany.

Removal of antibiotic resistance genes from transgenic tobacco plastids

Article Abstract:

This report examines the research into removing genes that can resist antibiotics from genetically engineered tobacco. This also lessens the risk of transfer to other plants and organisms in the environment. The research was conducted at Manchester University, Manchester, United Kingdom

A proposed framework for the description of plant metabolomics experiments and their result

Article Abstract:

A proposed data model called ArMet (architecture for metabolomics), which is used for describing the plant metabolomics experiments and their results, is presented. ArMet works in association with laboratory information management systems (LIMS) and other existing standards.
