Symphony multimedia presentation

Article Abstract:

The Symphony multimedia presentation designed by Jose Raul Padron won a gold award in the concepts category of the 1992 I.D. Annual Design Review. The Symphony user wears clip-on sensors and a transmitter such that the patterns that traced in space are recognized by a central processor, which converts the patterns into signals to control sound, images and other electronic effects. The Symphony concept was praised as an effort to bring near-future technologies to a human level.

Digital film may squeeze out some retail partners

Article Abstract:

The introduction of the Advanced Photo System (APS) may unduly affect the finances of small photo processing companies. APS, which was developed by an alliance of major film manufacturers, requires the use of new equipment for the processing of films. As a response to the problem, Konica will be offering a variety of options that would allow small shops to process APS photographs.
