Article Abstract:

Experts believe that the Department of Defense (DoD) must end a number of high profile and controversial weapons programs, as they are obsolete or fiscally not appropriate. The Center for American Progress (CAP) issued its own version of the Quadrennial Defense Review (QDR) ahead of the public release of the official QDR set for February 6, 2006, saying the military priorities of Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld and other top administration policymakers are faulty.

Base closures could hurt electric boat, ship systems

Article Abstract:

The Department of Defense (DoD) plans to close many naval bases including the submarine base in New London and the naval station in Pascagoula, which will affect nearby contractors, although the extent of this effect is not known. Some of the expected implications that these closures will have on contractor companies are discussed.

Bush's Army secretary pick has Carlyle ties

Article Abstract:

U.S. President George Bush gives plans at the White House to nominate Francis Harvey to be the secretary of the Army. Harvey, a long-time executive for several technology companies, is currently a top official for Maryland firm partially owned by The Carlyle Group.
