Bargain hunters
Article Abstract:
Investors can reduce their dealing costs by not buying investment advice. Regulations mean that two types of service are available, those where no advice is given called execution only, and a service which includes a detailed history of investors and an assessment of their intentions. This can boost costs for investors who may already be aware of the facets of the market they want to invest in. Investors can save money by using execution only services. The rules may be changed by the UK regulatory authorities.

Getting to grips with the gift of the gab
Article Abstract:
Stockbrokers use a number of specialized terms to describe their activities and trends in the market. Sentiment descibes moods in the market, while fundamentals is a term referring to concrete factors such as earnings and dividends. Profits are taken by selling shares which are rising in price, while topslicing refers to the sale of part of a holding. Churn and burn refers to selling and buying shares to earn a commission rather than bearing in mind the interests of the client.

Investors hit by Crest...
Article Abstract:
Private investors in the UK face high charges from CrestCo, set up to run Crest, the new UK share settlement system. Charges will be higher for investors trading amounts less than 1,000 pounds sterling though charges will be less for deals involving more than 4,000 pounds. Some 60% of retail deals are for amounts of under 4,000 pounds. Investors can use nominees accounts but then stand the risk of losing benefits offered to direct shareholders.
