C-NIX for the sophisticated

Article Abstract:

Mainstream Computer's C-NIX sales ledger is a stand-alone accounting software program that runs on the Xenix/Unix operating system. C-NIX has modules for stock control, bill of materials, and purchase and sales order processing. The modules are self-contained but also run with the systems manager programs. The advantages of the Xenix/Unix system is that many users can share the same hardware and software simultaneously. The program is expandable and flexible, allowing users to tailor the input and output in accordance with unique needs. However, C-NIX is not user-friendly and the manuals do not adequately describe the on-screen view that results from tailored applications.

Plusmark under Xenix links your inventory to the ledgers

Article Abstract:

The Plusmark integrated accounting software package and the Altos 886 multi-user, multi-tasking computer are considered. The modules of the Plusmark package are: inventory control, order processing, cost ledger, purchase ledger, sales ledger, cash book, and payroll. The programs have been on the market in one form or another for several years, and are more notable for their dependability than for any innovation. The Altos computer can support Plusmark software on as many as eight computer terminals with good speed and power, but the computer may not be able to handle more sophisticated programs or more users.

Article Abstract:

The AA Incomplete Records software package allows production of financial statements from a double entry accounting system. The program runs on any IBM-PC or compatible, but it is especially suited to the Tandon computer. The program is relatively simple to use and is intended for sole practitioners or small firms with a small number of accounts. The program requires 128K bytes, twin diskettes or hard disk, and the MS-DOS Version 2 operating system.
