Company law 'shambles'
Article Abstract:
The accountancy profession has condemned the Company Law Reform Bill because two specific proposals affecting the profession are poorly handled by the government, first, the introduction of a new criminal offence described as reckless auditing, and second, the limitation of auditor liability. The profession believes that there is no need for the first, and on the second, it negotiated for proportionate liability, but the wording in the Bill instead offers a liability cap.

Be positive, say FDs-turned-CEOs
Article Abstract:
Britain's finance directors-turned-chief executives should develop an altogether more positive cast of mind without losing their critical edge. Robertson, group chief executive of Wilson Bowden, claims that the central skills of leading are team building, motivation and good communication and FDs who can communicate well are in huge demand and they will make the transition to CEOs more effectively.
