Dyment in the rough
Article Abstract:
Fred Dyment, president and chief operating officer of Ranger Oil Ltd, combines bold action with selectivity as his formula in making his company one of the most successful in the business. Dyment also typifies the current group of professional administrators taking over the petroleum industry. Under his management, Ranger, one of Canada's biggest independent oil companies, doubled its share dividend and hired new employees at a time when most of those in the industry were practising restrictions. Before becoming president, Dyment started as company comptroller, then moved up the corporate ladder to treasurer, vice-president finance and chief financial officer.
