New chairman may be 'too powerful' claim

Article Abstract:

Management changes at Emap will mean that Robin Miller moves from the post of chief executive to non-executive chairman, and Kevin Hand becomes chairman from Jul 1998. Ken Simmonds, formerly a non-executive director of Emap, is concerned that Miller could have too much power as chairman and could hamper the efforts of Hand. Simmonds had supported Emap's former managing director, David Arculus, in an unsuccessful bid for the post of Emap's chief executive in Dec 1996, and Simmonds was then removed from Emap's board.
