Omnicare began as a small company providing oxygen concentartors for lung patients to use at home. Omnicare then expanded with Medigas which delivers oxygen cylinders. The company floated in 1995 and has failed to win contracts from competitors but could do so as these are due for renewal. Omnicare acquired Amcare, an incontinence products specialist, in 1996. The company's profit is estimated at 1.3 million pounds sterling for 1996 and forecast at 1.8 million pounds for 1997 by Astaire.
