Article Abstract:
Edie Adams, Ray Riley and Ravi Sawhney selected the winners of the entries that vied for the 44th Annual Design Review Equipment category award. Almost all entries were related to medicine, computing and sports. Their main criteria for judging were the humanizing and problem-solving aspect and the aesthetic beauty of things considered staid. The two winners in the category are IDEO's Midwest Dental AirTouch and Trimm Technologies' elegant disk drive tower. Other winners are presented.

An exhibition for different equipment designs was conducted. The judges for the contest were Rudy Krolopp, Peter Stathes and Seth Banks. The entry that won the best category award was the 'Ashtech Z'surveyor' which can be utilized for surveying and mapping. The entries which received the 'Design Distinction' category include 'Java Station,' 'Docu Match Integrated Mail System,' and 'Personal Post Office.'
