Euro preparation becomes paper tiger
Article Abstract:
Business consultants are busy monitoring the progress of preparations by companies for the launching of the Euro. KPMG Management Consulting has been turning out studies on European finance managers to assess their preparedness for the transition. However, critics believe that firms do not necessarily have to be prepared for the Euro's coming the moment it is implemented since the retailers and business will not have access to the currency on the first day. Furthermore, currencies in member countries will continue to exist some years after the new currency's implementation, negating the need for immediate action.

The great escape
Article Abstract:
Treasury and chief financial executives are taking the risk of joining start-up Internet firms which would likely lower compensation. Most start-up firms offer salaries that are lower than the industry average. A small company's chief financial officer usually receives a 1% to 2% equity stake. However, equity offers risk in start-up Internet firms because their management structures are not yet strong and they have limited resources.
