General: Army must be faster, better equipped

Article Abstract:

Lt. Gen. James Lovelace, deputy chief of staff of G-3 reveal that the Army, along with reserve forces should be capable of deploying faster, and use networking as a means to increase their effectiveness. Reserve forces must well equipped as the Army as the US simultaneously faces two types of threats, from traditional competitors and terrorists/rogue states.

Adapting geodemographic information to army recruiting: the case of identifying and enlisting Private Ryan

Article Abstract:

Research into the geodemographics in the army to develop a segmentation model for the army recruiting effort at Fort Knox is given. The research resulted in developing 18 clusters or unique segments, based on demographic and socioeconomic variables. This research and model building has allowed for better contract production with each market segment.

Army leaders: FCS will meet 'Spectrum' of mission needs: Robots would enhance Katrina-like search-and-rescue

Army leaders are analyzing the applicability of the Army's Future Combat Systems (FCS) in a variety of spectrum of operating environments, including responding to a disaster such as Hurricane Katrina. With a near-term cost of more than $25 billion and an eventual price tag over 20 years of $125 billion, FCS is Army's top modernization initiative.
