Getting the right tone
Article Abstract:
The mobile phone market has expanded more rapidly than expected and there will be nearly 500 million users by 2000, according to Ericsson. Nokia, which also produces equipment, has made similar estimates. Handset prices are dropping by nearly 20% annually. This has been offset by greater efficiency, but the market has to show continued growth to compensate for the price fall. The performance of markets in developing economies will be critical, and growth rates may slow by the year 2000.
