Hanger Orthopedic Group bounced back from its 1991 net loss and registered better earnings in fiscal year 1992 to improve its financial status. The company is now consolidating its position through the acquisition of eight patient care rehabilitation centers to achieve its projected earnings of $100 million by 1993. The company is considering another 15-18 centers for subsequent acquisitions which can generate a $40 million increase in revenue base. Patient care centers earnings constitute about 85% of Hanger's sales.

Corning Inc Dir Gordon Gund bought 66,000 shares of the firm's stock since Dec 27, 1992 before its price dropped by 14% and another 16,400 shares after the fall. All in all, he amassed 82,400 shares just in time for a 15% sales increase and a 21% improved earnings that the glass manufacturing firm enjoyed in the Mar 1992 quarter. The revelation that sister company Dow Corning Corp's breast implant products did not pass through necessary safety tests caused the drop in Corning's stock.
