IRELAND: BLOCKADE IMPACTS BEEF STOCKS
Article Abstract:
As a result of farmers blockading beef processing plants in Ireland, stocks of beef are running short at both the Irish supermarkets Superquinn and Tesco Ireland. Both are buying in extra pork and poultry supplies. The beef farmers want at least 90 pence per lb for their beef. Currently they are paid 82 pence, the lowest amount in the whole of the EU. Supplies of Irish beef to UK multiples could soon be affected.
