It's good to save money
Article Abstract:
Deregulation and technological innovations are enabling British telecommunications companies to provide services at lower rates. One service that is increasingly used in the country to lower the cost of telephone traffic is telecommunications aggregation. It is big business in the US, estimated to be about 2.5 billion pounds sterling in 1996, and is expected to explode in the UK in the coming years. This new service entails the use of least-cost routing. Aggregators, or call brokers, purchase bulk capacity from carriers at low rates and then package their services based on the particular needs of individual customers. Consequently, customers no longer have to monitor or understand confusing tariffing schemes. About 10 companies already provide this service in the UK.

Blowing the whistle at work: good practice or bad idea?
Article Abstract:
Whistleblowers, or those who disclose confidential information in service of public interest, suffer from repercussions including harassment, unemployment, financial and civil problems and psychological instability. English law implies employee responsibility not to divulge confidential information except in cases of breach of law and upholds the employee's rights against unfair dismissal through the Industrial Relations Act of 1971. Cases show that these safeguards are insufficient, but that companies can benefit by internalizing whistleblowing and implementing necessary reforms.
