Keeping tabs on trust performance

Article Abstract:

Investors can assess the performance of their investment trusts through studying their share prices and annual results. Share prices are published as the ordinary price, touch and market value. The gross dividend yield shows the income on shares. Price perfomances show the performance over a five year period but exclude the impact of charges. The net asset value or NAV is also shown. Historical NAV data are relevant since they allow investors to monitor the performance of managers.

Murky waters lie offshore

Article Abstract:

UK investors may show increased interest in offshore investment funds, especially if a Labor government achieves power. Such funds may have tax advantages, and provide exposure to a broad range of investments, but there are pitfalls such as high costs which may be involved. Not all offshore funds are more expensive than UK-based funds, and investors will be able to learn more about charges in 1995, when funds sold to UK investors will have to be more open about their charges.
