New Zealand GMO debacle undermines green lobby
Article Abstract:
Elaine Ingham (Oregon State University) and the New Zealand Green Party apologized to the New Zealand government for submitting false claims about the genetically modified bacterium Klebsiella planticola, which was modified to convert plant waste into alcohol. The scientist and Green Party selected only that information from the research that supported their political agenda.

GM crops are no panacea for poverty
Article Abstract:
A report from the International Service for the Acquisition of Agri-biotech Applications titled "Global Status of Commercialized Transgenic Crops: 2000" provides statistics showing the acceptance in third world countries of genetically modified crops. Yet, most of the planted crops are intended for export, and will have little impact upon starvation.
