OCRA: a concise index for the assessment of exposure to repetitive movements of the upper limbs

Article Abstract:

A new concise index of exposure to the risks of work-related musculoskeletal disorders of the upper limbs linked with repetitive movements of the lower limbs is based on the procedure suggested by the NIOSH for calculating the Lifting Index in manual load handling activities. The concise exposure index (OCRA index) looks at the links between the daily number of actions actually undertaken by the upper limbs in repetitive tasks and the corresponding number of recommended actions. A carefully designed data sheet allows the OCRA index to be calculated easily even if the work studied has more than one repetitive task.

Updating reference values and predictive models of the OCRA method in the risk assessment of work-related musculoskeletal disorders of the upper limbs

Article Abstract:

An original approach used to estimate new critical values of the Occupational Repetitive Actions (OCRA) index is presented. A combination of data for the effect variable in a reference population not exposed to the relevant risks along with the regression function between OCRA and the prevalence of workers affected by one or more upper limb work-related musculoskeletal disorders are used.

New procedure for assessing sequential manual lifting jobs using the revised NIOSH lifting equation
