PR firm battles Starbucks over its 'Joe' magazine

Karyo Communications, a seven-person PR firm based in Vancouver, Canada,is accusing Starbucks Corp, a Seattle, WA-based chain, of stealing the name for its new publication, Joe. In a lawsuit filed in Canadian Federal Court, Patti Schom-Moffat, principal at Karyo, said she developed a good newsletter called Joe back in 1996 and offered it to Starbucks. Karyo's Joe was subtitled 'The Journal for Everyone' and featured stories about stray cats being rescued and saving Vancouver's oldest one-room schoolhouse.

Wren quickly quits board of web firm
Article Abstract:
The Omnicom Group CEO John Wren has left the board of Zero.Net, an incubator firm in San Francisco, CA, after investing in it and joining its board. Wren's withdrawal was caused by the discovery that Omnicom could only buy 4% of ZN and not 10% as promised. Omnicom was lured to ZN since its CEO is Jake Weinstock, the son of Davis Weinstock who is a principal fo the Omnicom PR firm Clark and Weinstock.
