Plants tackle explosive contamination
Article Abstract:
A study on phytoremediation of 2,4,6-trinitrotoluene (TNT), an extremely toxic substance to most organisms, was conducted by showing how transgenic plants clean up the soils contaminated with hexahydro-1,3,5-trinitro-1,3,5-triazine (RDX). The results revealed that the plants were highly resistant to the toxic effects of RDX in soil at concentration that retard the growth of wild-type plants and use the RDX derived nitrogen to enhance their growth.

Analysis of the transcriptional complexity of Arabidopsis thaliana by massively parallel signature sequencing
Article Abstract:
Large scale sequencing of short mRNA-derived tags can establish the qualitative and quantitive characterics of a complex transcriptone. The MPSS data suggested that the Arabidopsis thalians transcriptome was complex and contained many as-yet uncharacterized variants of normal coding transcripts.
