Political uncertainty and asset valuation: evidence from business relocations in Canada

Article Abstract:

At the time of political uncertainty over Quebec's drive for sovereignty from Canada, the announcements of the business relocation by the companies had a positive reaction in the stock market if relocation is to Toronto or to some other province from Quebec and negative reaction if the relocation is to Quebec from other provinces. An abnormal levels of significant returns are cited between Quebec and Toronto samples.

Privatization under incomplete information and bankruptcy risk

Article Abstract:

An analysis of methods of privatization and effect of productivity on the offers by the government is presented. The options exercised by efficient and inefficient investors to the offers are studied and analyzed. The advantages of offering dual privatization methods and the effect thereof on the post-privatization bankruptcy are also discussed.
