Some of Turkey's main banking and financial leaders met at a roundtable conference in Istanbul, wherein Turkey's economic prospects and the reasons for its current stability were discussed. The governor of the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey stated that strict fiscal and monetary policies have been implemented in the past three years and that the central bank and other institutions have developed communications policies that have helped to stabilize the economy.
