Royal Mail delivers total quality
Article Abstract:
Royal Mail delivers 64 million letters a day and holds the distinction of being the most reliable for next-day delivery in Europe. Its success is attributed to an organizational self-assessment which it undertook to realize its objective view. In 1988, it came up with its 'Customer First' policy, where the strengths and weaknesses of the business were studied through some of its employees and major customers. Its mission and values were defined, as well as the value of teamworking and the relationship between customer and employee satisfaction. It currently uses the European Foundation for Quality Management in its self-assessment.

Oslo, Norway and Stockhold, Sweden, rank high in terms of lack of pollution. Companies rate market access and communications as the most important factors when deciding on a business location. Expanding companies are especially interested in eastern European locations such as Warsaw, Poland. Barcelona ranks first in terms of quality of life.
