Shipbuilding consortium unveils 7 research projects: Efforts would cut construction, repair costs
Article Abstract:
The National Shipbuilding Research Program (NSRP) announced seven new research and development (R&D) projects which will facilitate cost cutting and improve manufacturing. The new projects, which are valued at approximately $13.4 million, will reduce costs of Navy shipbuilding and repair and will address industry consensus priorities as required by the NSRP's strategic investment plan.

Iran attack difficult, but U.S. maintains military options
Article Abstract:
A direct attack on Iran's increasing nuclear capabilities will be difficult, but the US has many military options. Some of the steps the US and its allies will need to take to counter Iran's war fighting capabilities include identifying and neutralizing terrorist groups, countering Iranian naval mines and detecting and interdicting attempts to deliver nuclear devices.

Defense author offers solutions to stem weapons proliferation
Article Abstract:
Nuclear proliferation will be the next emerging threat, which in turn will collide with the ongoing war on terrorism, according to Washington Times defense journalist, Bill Gertz. He proposes to develop Special Forces units that could be used against proliferation, and also calls for an ideological campaign to educate Americans about proliferation and terrorism.
