Article Abstract:

The online information services of the big five accounting firms and the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants (CICA) were evaluated for timely and useful information. With the exception of PricewaterhouseCoopers, all the other firms, Andersen Consulting, Ernst and Young, Deloitte and KPMG, reported out-of-date press releases and conferences, and the CICA "What's new" sections reported current material, however, after navigating through three screens.

Article Abstract:

When a client visits a website searching for an accountant, the website should be informational, showing concern for his or her finances, and offering solutions to financial problems. Content is more important than design, people's emotions should be stirred, and the clutter should be removed to make response options very clear.

Using the Internet to recruit employees can be a valuable tool when resources are used effectively to develop the website to communicate the organization's vision. Developing training online can benefit the organization financially, and can be available as a tool for ongoing training and evaluation for staff.
