Task effects on fatigue symptoms in overnight driving
Article Abstract:
Blinks are delayed in critical situations while driving, taking place when there is a fall in the attentional demands of the driving task, therefore reducing interference with information intake or performance, according to research demonstrating the task effects and dealing with critical traffic situations in long-term night driving. It appears that the level of arousal from microsleeps is higher for drivers than for passengers, with task-specific information also possibly playing a role in earlier waking from a microsleep.

The ergonomics of road signs: explicit and embedded speed limits
Article Abstract:
The response of drivers to built-up area signs used in the European traffic system is poor as compared to their response to speed-limit signs. The built-up signs differ from the speed limit signs in appearance, and indicate both entrance into a built-up area and a speed limit. The low response to built-up area signs is due to its dual function and shape that is unrelated to that of the speed limit signs. Field tests show that the response of the drivers to both signs is similar if the police is visibly present.

Traffic sign symbol comprehension: a cross-cultural study
Article Abstract:
The comprehension levels of highway traffic sign symbols used in different countries was evaluated in order to identify the underlying rules that affect comprehension levels, and recommended approaches to deal with the problem. The results revealed significant differences in comprehension among specific sign messages, different countries and different driver populations
