The multidimensional nature of service facilities: viewpoints and recommendations

Article Abstract:

Emphasis given to interactions between service provider and customer is due to the notion that the service provider represents the service. However, it is also important to deal with service facilities because in some cases the facility is perceived by the customer as the service itself. Examples of facility-driven services are bank automatic teller machines, automatic car washes and movie theaters. In such facility-driven services, particular attention to the five perspectives of facility planning is necessary. These arethe operational, the locational, the atmospheric and image, the consumer use and the contact personnel perspectives.
