The road from Europe's stability pact

Article Abstract:

Planned European monetary union (Emu) involves co-operation on budget deficits to avoid one country incurring debts that others suffer for. Bond yields for all countries are linked due to there being a single currency. Individual governments lose control of exchange rate and interest rate policy. Recessions are likely to affect industries in a number of countries rather than just one country and this means that a European authority is needed to tackle recessions using fiscal policy.

On the road to nowhere fast

Article Abstract:

The Dow Jones Transportation Average has significantly gone down, in contrast with the utilities and industrials average. The significant decrease in prices has had a negative impact on almost all companies. In addition, there is a lack of substantial insider buying. Analysts have expressed concern over the selling of issues which have already come down. This indicates that the prospects of any major improvement in transportation issues in the near future are poor.

England seeks fast ships development time; upbeat on DD(X), LCS

Article Abstract:

Navy Secretary, Gordon England stated that the Navy is making an attempt to reduce the time it takes to develop and deploy new ships, such as the Littoral Combat Ship (LCS), that are heavily dependent on information technology. This would mean moving away from traditional procurement practices that keep new systems in development for years and shortening acquisition times by moving forward towards spiral development.
