Totalise is a company that offers free stocks to customers of its internet service, and the idea has been attractive, though the impact of the new stocks on diluting ownership appears to have been ignored. Meanwhile, Internet Indirect has attracted investors with a promise to invest in ideas related to the internet. Valuations of internet stocks could be seen in terms of creative destruction, and speculators may overestimate the impact of new technology.

Strong brands and larger players are more favored by the specialists, though size is no guarantee of a good investment performance.
