UK: CWS MAY ROLL-OUT TWO STORE CONCEPTS

Article Abstract:

The Co-operative Wholesale Society is testing new shop formats for market towns in Scotland. The first test is at Dollar in Clackmannanshire followed by Aberlour in Speyside. The 2,000sq ft stores have been rebadged Co-op Dollar and Co-op Aberlour, and both feature an extended chilled range and more refrigerators. The concept could be rolled out across a merged CWS and Co-operative Retail Services group. CWS may however decide to adopt the treatment for its 280 stores irrespective of a merger with CRS.
