Adsorption, thermogravimetric, and NMR studies of FSM-16 material functionalized with alkymonochlorosilanes

Article Abstract:

Research was conducted to examine the process of chemical modification of FSM-16 materials that have uniform pores of very similar size and large enough to accommodate big ligands and to monitor the surface changes caused by the modification with various alkylmonochlorosilanes. The problem of tailoring the surface and structural properties of ordered silica materials was also addressed. Results based on high-resolution thermogravimetry, 29Si NMR spectroscopy and adsorption measurements are consistent with the interpretation that the process of modification includes several steps.

Infrared spectra of matrix-isolated [OC***X2] and [CO***X2] complexes (X = Cl, Br) and ab initio calculations

Article Abstract:

The [OC***X2] and [CO***X2] complexes were studied by performing experiments on Cl2/CO, Br2/CO and BrCl/CO mixtures trapped in both argon and nitrogen matrices and ab initio calculations on the halogen carbon monoxide interactions. The observed shifts in all complexes were found to be larger in nitrogen than in argon matrices and similar to those for Cl2***CO and Br2***CO complexes. Irradiation of samples induced in an argon matrix resulted in the isomerization of the complexes into a metastable for CO***X2.
