Catalytic mechanism of 6-phosphogluconate dehydrogenase: A theoretical investigation
Article Abstract:
Density functional calculations are employed to theoretically explore the mechanism of all elementary reaction steps involved in the catalytic reaction of 6-phosphogluconate dehydrogenase (6PGDH). The calculations demonstrate that the first step of the catalytic reaction is the formation of a 3-keto 6PG intermediate, second step is the elimination of CO2 molecule from 6PG and lastly final product is formed, ribulose 5-phospahte and each of the three steps proceeds through a concerted transition state.

Phase transitions in mixed monolayers of cationic surfactants and dodecanol at the air/water interface
Article Abstract:
A study was conducted to analyze a two-dimensional first-order transition by sum-frequency vibrational spectroscopy in mixed monolayers of dodecanol and alkyltrimethylammonium bromide surfacants at the air/water interface. Mixed solutions were prepared in D2O at a concentration of 20 mu-M dodecanol. Experimental results indicated a first-order two-dimensional phase transition in the mixed monolayers.

Sum-frequency spectroscopy of a monolayer of zinc arachidate at the solid-state interface
Article Abstract:
Sum-frequency (Sf) spectra of mololayers before contact, in contact and after contact are compared and issues of transfer of molecules between the two surfaces and the effect of varying pressure and of shear are described. Even after using the new model various aspects of the intensities of the peaks in the Sf spectra can not be predicted.
