Catalytic properties in the conversion of C1-C4 alcohols

Article Abstract:

Research was conducted to examine the conversion reactions of primary and secondary C1-C4 alcohols over trimethyl phosphite modified ZSM-5 zeolites that contain only weak acidity. Results were compared to those of unmodified HZSM-5 catalyst. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy studies on the conversion of methanol revealed that the formation of carbon monoxide can occur through two different reaction mechanisms depending on the amount of water present in the reaction system.

Peculiar properties of water as solute

Article Abstract:

The behavior of water in binary mixtures with propylene carbonate (PC) in the phase diagram region where water acts as a solute as function of the water molar fraction [X.sub.water] is studied. The interaction of water molecules among themselves and between water and PC was shown to be dependent on the water concentration in the mixtures and all measured properties showed break at [X.sub.water]=0.15-0.20.

Solvent-driven multiply configurable on/off fluorescent indicator of the pH window: A diethylenetriamine bearing two end pyrene fragments

Article Abstract:

The investigation of the fluorescence behaviors of a simple-structured molecule (L), a diethyenetriamine bearing two end pyrene fragments, in water is presented. The MeCN-driven excimer switching of a simple-structured molecule is triggered by the decrease in stability of the intramolecular ground-state dimer (GSD) formed between the end pyrene fragments and the decrease in polarity of solution.
