Computational prediction of absorbance maxima for a structurally diverse series of engineered green fluorescent protein chromophores

Article Abstract:

The spectral properties of a structurally diverse series of fluorescent protein (FP) chromophores and their excitation energies are analyzed. The results have highlighted the reliability of the computational methods as applied to green FP (GFP) chromophore analogues and has laid foundation for the computational design GFP variants with improved properties for use in biological imaging.

Near-infrared optical absorption behavior in high-beta nonlinear optical chromophore-polymer guest-host materials. 1. Continuum dielectric effects in polycarbonate hosts

Article Abstract:

The effects of polymer structural variations within the bisphenol A polycarbonate family on near-IR absorption behavior of guest-host materials, holding the dye constant, over a range of dye concentrations are investigated.

Photostability of high (mu)(beta) electro-optic chromophores at 1550 nm

Article Abstract:

The photobleaching rate of the chromophores is measured at room temperature by a fiber optic pump-probe technique. The effect the chromophore structure and polymer host type have on the photostability is discussed.
