Conductivity of ZnO nanowires, nanoparticles, and thin films using time-resolved terahertz spectroscopy

Article Abstract:

Time-resolved terahertz spectroscopy is combined with effective medium theory to determine the terahertz absorption coefficient, index of refraction, and conductivity of ZnO nanowires, nanoparticles and thin films. The frequency-dependent photoconductivity has shown enhanced electron mobility in films and nanowires compared to nanoparticles. Pump scans have indicated that the inherent disorder and the multitude of interfaces in the nanoparticle films have resulted in shorter electron lifetimes.

Electron-beam-induced topographical, chemical, and structural patterning of amorphous titanium oxide films

Article Abstract:

An in-depth analysis of e-beam-induced chemical, topographical and structural changes in amorphous Ti[O.sub.x] (x = 2) thin films is reported. The local change in oxidation state and phase has a great influence on local electrical, optical, and catalytic properties of the irradiated oxide.
